
JAMALPUR, A total of 1,27,560 hectares of land were brought under Boro cultivation in the district this season.
Sources at the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said that with this land, farmers are expecting 5,63,805 tonnes of Boro rice this year.
DAE reported that farmers cultivated Hybrid Boro paddy on 50,875 hectares, targeting a production of 2,54,375 tonnes. They planted High-Yielding Variety on 76,500 hectares with a production target of 3,09,060 tonnes, while local varieties were grown on 185 hectares with an expected yield of 370 tonnes.
Farmers cultivated Boro on 34,620 hectares in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila, while 18560 hectares in Sarishabari, 20,125 hectares in Melandah, 17,120 hectares in Islampur, 7,870 hectares in Dewanganj, 16,315 hectares in Madarganj and 12,950 hectares in Bakshiganj, DAE added.
Deputy Director of DAE Zakia Sultana said farmers completed cultivation on time due to the availability of Boro seedlings, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs.
